Conquest Art is a Charity, inspiring people with disabilities and long-term health issues to discover their creative energy and build self-confidence through art.  Members are encouraged to create artwork from their imagination, to develop their own style and work at their own pace.

Conquest Art groups are all run by volunteers who offer their time and enthusiasm and with support, are rewarded by the sense of fulfilment that comes with being involved from such a worthwhile cause.

The group is held on alternate Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Woking United Reformed Church.

Your few hours a week could make a real difference to people's lives.  We are looking for volunteers to join the team.  The team consists of helpers doing something that they are good at – e.g. making refreshments, handling the finances, bringing new ideas, dealing with forms, ordering and purchasing materials etc. But most of all we need your enthusiasm to help create a friendly welcoming environment where members feel relaxed and able to make the most of their time with us.

·       The role will consist mainly of providing support to Conquest members as they create artistic work in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

·       The role involves setting out tables, chairs, and materials at the beginning of each session and making sure that they are put away at the end.

·       To provide support to the volunteer team throughout the session where needed.

·       If possible (though it is not essential that all volunteers should be able to do this) to give advice about and help with the artistic works which are being produced.

·       To provide tea/coffee and refreshments for the group.

What skills do I need?

What skills do I need?

·       No formal qualifications are needed although experience in producing art would be helpful. A general interest in artistic subjects would also be useful.

·       An ability to get on well with people and be empathetic towards them is a requirement.

·       Enough physical strength to be able to set out tables and chairs and lift boxes of materials is needed.

·       Reliability, enthusiasm, and commitment (preferably on a long-term basis) are all essential.
