Volunteer with halow!

halow supports young adults aged 16+ with a learning disability to live independent lives and become more involved in their local community. We rely on our team of volunteers who build relationships with the young people we support to engage them in a wide range of activities. We treat our volunteers with the utmost respect as they are valued members of our team and play a critical role to our success and future.

There is no minimum time constraint, all we ask is a commitment from volunteers. So, whether you can help once a week, once a month or three times a year, volunteers are essential to us.

Our learning support volunteers assist with halow's educational programmes (Building Futures and A Reason to Get Up) that run during the weekday. You could be helping a young person to sail a riverboat one day to helping them to design a computer game another day.

Although our offices are based in Guildford, we welcome volunteers from various places, as opportunities for their support arise all over Surrey. They are not expected to come to us with any previous experience; all we ask for is commitment and a willingness to work with our young people.

Why volunteer for halow? Our volunteers enjoy the fun of our events and can gain valuable work experience whilst enjoying giving something back to the community, taking on new challenges and sharing their skills to help others. Other benefits include:

To try something new To have fun To give something back to the community To do something that you feel is important to you To meet new people To gain valuable work experience To take on new challenges To share your skills in order to help others To build confidence How do . All volunteers will be subject to referencing and any applicable level of DBS check but this will be paid for by halow.

What skills do I need?

No specific skills are required to volunteer with us, just a passion for helping others! But if you do have any particular skills or hobbies that may be relevant to any of our activities then please do let us know.

All volunteers will be subject to referencing and if you become eligible for a volunteer DBS check at any point this will be paid for by halow.
