For Surrey Heathland Partnership
The Surrey Heathland Partnership volunteers carry out practical work on heathland sites in Guildford & Woking Boroughs to enhance and maintain the natural beauty of our area for both people and wildlife. If you have time on your hands this winter, and are aged over 16, why not join us on one of our Conservation Crew days? The majority of activities over the winter focus on clearing invasive scrub, such as birch, pine and gorse, using hand tools. Left unchecked these species will out-compete the heathland species and the habitat would be lost.
No experience necessary, just plenty of enthusiasm and a willingness to be outside in a variety of weather conditions! All tasks are led by trained leaders who will instruct you on the day’s activities. We provide all PPE and insurance - plus hot drinks and biscuits to keep the energy levels up!.
