For Maybury Primary School
We are a Local Academy Governing body looking for an enthusiastic, inquisitive person with good inter-personal skills to help us shape the strategic direction of our school. We look for a range of different professions, skills and experience and share a common interest in wanting the best possible education for the children in our school.
We are a thriving, friendly school and nursery with around 260 children ranging from the ages of 3 -11 that promotes ambition for all our children to be the best that they can be and have an excellent start in their educational journey.
The governing body meets twice each term, within the working day, and governors are encouraged to make termly visits, plus any other events you may wish to attend. Full training opportunities are available and encouraged.
If you’re tempted and would like to know more about how valued you could be, please register your interest and Mrs Amanda Merritt, Headteacher will contact you. Please bear in mind this is a weekday only - NO evenings.
The qualities and skills that governors need:
· A strong commitment to making sure these are high aspirations for all the children in the school and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for all pupils.
· To be naturally inquisitive and have the ability to question and analyse, and a willingness to learn good inter-personal skills.
· Ability to analyse and interpret data.
· A strong commitment to the role and this includes dedicating time during the school term.
· The skills to understand the particular ethos of the school and its implications for the way it is governed.
· To carry out the role to the highest standards and, as the holder of a public office, to adhere to the seven principles of public life, which are selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
In addition, experience and expertise in any of the following skills would be extremely helpful:
· In analysing performance data
· In budgeting and driving financial efficiency
· In performance management and employment issues
