For Surrey Coalition of Disabled People
Unpaid carers, people who are Disabled, people who are older and people who have long term health condition are all at a higher risk of experiencing loneliness. We have instigated a project to provide technology, support in using technology and virtual groups to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation in people with care and support needs and carers across Surrey.
Some of the people we work with will be unfamiliar with technology and will require support to ensure they can participate. The role of Tech Angel is intended to help support people in learning how to use a device to join virtual activity groups. Tech Angel support will be face to face to people who join the project. The Tech Angel will help the person to set up a device, to download the appropriate app and to get started joining a group. Tech Angel’s also talk each participant through some basic internet safety guidance. It is anticipated that this will
involve 1/2 hours per week. The volunteer will need to do some online training and carry out a DBS check.
