Are you confident using social media and keen to support your local community? Canalside Community Fridge in Woking is looking for a volunteer to help manage and develop our social media presence.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills to raise awareness of our work, connect with the community, and support a project that helps reduce food waste and supports local residents.

What you’ll be doing:

Managing our existing social media account

Creating and posting engaging content (approximately one post per week)

Promoting our activities, events, and impact

Helping to grow our online presence and reach more people

What we’re looking for:

Experience using social media (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

Good written communication skills

Creativity and enthusiasm

Ability to work independently

Time commitment:

Flexible – around 1 to 2 hours per week

Location:

Remote (with occasional visits if desired)

What skills do I need?

 1. Social Media Knowledge

Confidence using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or X

Understanding how to create posts, upload images, and schedule content

Clear, friendly writing style

Ability to adapt tone (informative, welcoming, community-focused)

 3. Creativity

Coming up with engaging ideas for posts

Making content interesting (photos, captions, simple graphics)

 4. Organisation & Reliability

Posting regularly (e.g. once a week)

Planning content ahead when needed

 5. Basic IT Skills

Using a computer, apps, or phone camera

Uploading images or simple edits
